Here at DHEC, we believe that horses are happiest mentally, emotionally and physically when they live outside with the opportunity to move around and graze all day. Their systems were created to eat a little bit all day long, and in the wild they travel up to 30 miles per day in search of food and water. In order to offer them the most natural environment that we can, DHEC offers pasture board only, with limited availability. DHEC does have stalls available to boarders for an additional fee (see below) in the event their horse is sick or injured.
In order to accommodate boarders with varying needs, DHEC is now offering the following boarding plans:
Economy Board - $200 per month - includes: * 24/7 access to grass pasture and hay as needed. Standard Board-$250 per month - includes: * 24/7 access to grass pasture and hay as needed. * Feed once per day (we offer a 12% pelleted complete feed and Senior feed, both Nutrena products). Can include owner provided supplements (bagged for daily rations). If feeding 2 times per day is required, there will be an additional $30 per month charge.
Premium Board - $300 per month - includes: * 24/7 access to grass pasture and hay as needed * Feed once per day (we offer a 12% pelleted complete feed and Senior feed, both Nutrena products). Can include owner provided supplements (bagged for daily rations). If feeding 2 times per day is required, there will be an additional $30 per month charge. * Natural Daily Worming program (DE--mixed with beet pulp and alfalfa cubes). * Blanketing in the winter or fly sheets in summer (owner provided). * Hosing off in the summer months as needed. * Fly spray as needed (owner provided). * Schedule appointments with and hold horse for Vet and Farrier (owner responsible to pay vet/farrier charges). * Stall use in inclimate weather.
Stall Rentalfor Current Boarders * $5 per night for stall use includes shavings and feeding. Boarder responsible for stall cleanining * $10 per night for stall use includes shavings, feeding and stall cleaning.
Stall Rental for Non-Boarders * $15 per night for stall use, includes shavings. Horse owner responsible for stall cleaning and feeding their horse. * $20 per night for stall use, includes shavings, stall cleaning and feeding hay and owner provided feed
Additional Services: * Catching and holding horse for vet or farrier - $10 each appt. * Blanketing or un-blanketing (owner provided) - $35/mo. * Natural Daily Worming program (DE) - $10/mo. * Natural Hoof Trimming by Bekah - $25/trim
