Considering horse ownership but you're not sure if you're ready to purchase a horse of your own. Leasing may be just the option for you...
Horse leasing is an excellent way to "get your feet wet" before jumping into horse ownership. It gives the leaser a good idea of the amount of responsibility and the joys of having a horse all your own. Horsemanship and riding is not something that most people can practice at home! Leasing enables the student to have more access to one horse, to build a relationship that can develop into a partnership with principals, purpose and time. Students can practice with their partner between lessons and clinics to accelorate development for both horse and human. No matter your goals, leasing is a great way to get you closer to acheiving them on a limited budget! We have several horses to choose from, and would love to find the right match for you. Lease-to-own options are also available.
Horses can be leased on a month by month basis, or for specific events (clinics, workshops, or lessons) if you are unable to bring your horse with you. We have a variety of horsenalities to choose from. Please contact us prior to an event to check on current availablility, or to reserve a horse to play with.
Leasing Options
Full Lease with standard pasture board for the horse - $250 per month
This option offers the leaser full access to the horse 7 days a week. This is a way to try out horse ownership without having to put money up front to purchase a horse. You can treat a horse as your own and ride it whenever you'd like. You are responsible for the horses needs for the duration of the lease which includes any vet care and farrier care. Dark Horse Equestrian Centre is responsible for the daily care of the horse as in any boarding situation.
Partial Lease with standard pasture board for the horse - $150 per month
This option offers the leaser access to the horse 3 days a week. You can treat the horse as your own and ride on the 3 days that you decide and are designated as your days. All vet and farrier bills are split between the leaser and Dark Horse Equestrian Centre for the duration of the lease.
Weekly lease - $75 per week
Daily lease - $20 per day

"Hope Floats" ***Currently under 1/2 lease...available for partial lease***
Hope is a 9 year old snowflake Appaloosa and stands about 14.1hh. She is progressing nicely into Level 3 OnLine and Level 2 Freestyle. She is very confident under saddle, is a gorgeous mover that just floats at the trot! Hope is available for sale and/or lease. Click here for more info on Hope.

"Sophie"
Sophie is a 13 year old grey mare that stands 13.3hh. She is double registered Arab/Welsh cross. Sophie is a big horse in a small package! Sophie is beginning Level 3 online and gaining confidence under saddle. She has been shown successfully in dressage and is a very athletic jumper. Sophie is available for sale and/or lease. "Bella" ***NOT AVAILABLE...CURRENTLY BEING LEASED***
Bella is always entertaining! She is a RBE/LBE that tries very hard and loves attention! She is a super sweet mare that will try her little heart out for you. She offers so much more than you ask of her. She has a solid start of groundwork and will be started under saddle soon. Bella is a 6 year old breeding stock paint mare. She is dark bay, almost black and stands about 15hh. Bella is available for sale...click here for more info on Bella.

"Leviticus Maximus" ***NOT AVAILABLE...CURRENTLY BEING LEASED***
Levi is a 10 year old bay Quarter Horse that stands about 15hh. He is currently playing in Level 2 OnLine and Freestyle. He loves hunter paces and endurance rides. He has trail ridden all over the Carolina's and Georgia. Levi is available for sale and/or lease. Click here for more info on Levi.

"Al-Capony"
Pony, as he is called at Dark Horse, is a 40" Shetland/mini cross paint pony. He is a LBE and is quite a character. He is extremely entertaining. He loves to jump, and make up his own games if his human isn't interesting enough! He is currently playing Level 2 online. Pony is available for lease only.
"Hercules"
Hercules is a 4 year old Leopard Appaloosa gelding that stands 14.1hh. He is a LBI/LBE and is extremely "cowy." He has a huge play drive, and definitely has his own opinions that he will share freely! He is a great teacher of patience to his humans, and a lot of fun. He loves to cut the dogs out of his pasture...if they dare to enter! He is currently playing in Level 2 online and will be started under saddle soon. Hercules is available for lease only.

"Philomena"
Mena is a 4 year old 15.2hh appendix QH mare. She is a LBI with a super sweet temperment, she loves attention and just hanging out. She has been playing in Level 2 online, will be started undersaddle soon. Mena is available for lease only.
"Titan"
Titan is a 1 1/2 year old Percheron/Drum Horse cross. He is a LBI and is extremely smart. He's curious about everything, and loves attention. He is quick to make friends, and is smart like his mom, learning comes very easy to him. He has a ton of potential to do a variety of things. Titan is available for lease only.
